San Pedro De Mon...
The design of this summer evening dress, came up to my mind while I was looking at Vionnet book. It is not similar to any of her dresses, but my client`s fabric, was a printed silk chiffon very beautifull, but….not much, just 2.5 yds and the simplicity of the design had to be the key. I love the 20`s and 30`s, and I found in this pictures the inspiration that I needed to make this simple, but lovely dress. First of all, I mounted this enormus turquoises toguether with some small ones, into a collar, that finishes at the back with hanging ribbons that end up with small turquoises. From that point, the dress just flows…..with a low cut back and a small wavy train that is taken up if desired, and also the dress can be a bit fitted with a couple of bustles on the side that comes to the center back also. There was not enough fabric for a chawl, so I had some satin face chiffon in white that flows in the same way as the dress fabric, so…..it was coloring time!!! it was risky but……. I think the shades of the sea came out beautifully!!! so I put toghether the shawl finishing the hems with hand embroider small turquoses to make it hang, and……you do not see this……but you put your arms into a slit and the chawl just stays in place and looks…………like I can see in my mind all those wonderfull dresses in the 1920`s. I am happy with the result, and even more by the fact that my client just adore her new dress!!! PS: with a tiny bit left over from the hem, I made her this little hand bag…..
Silk chiffon for dress and shawl, and lining in silk habotai. Turquoises in 2 different sizes.
