The inspiration for my party outfit came from the 1950s. The 50s symbolise a time of prosperity and innovation for me, a vision of a bright new future after the horrors of two world wars. My Atomic dress is inspired by a 50s original and made in black satin and white ribbon with a concealed zipper at the side. It is fully lined and has a petticoat to give the skirt fullness. No party getup of mine is complete without a hat so I designed and made one to match the dress – I call it my Starburst hat, in line with the 50s theme. The faux pearl necklace is also designed and made by me.
