I was obviously inspired by the 50s, my favorite fashion era. i love full skirts and the understated femine sexy of this era. Adding bows, another of my favorite, just made sense. I wore it today to work and received many compliments, the best that it’s" very me". I chose to use gingham print because it can be dressed up or down which means I can wear as much as possible =)
I used Simplicity Project Runway pattern 2444 and altered the sleeves.

The sleeves are very simple to do. Laying the pattern down, I measured and cut out 3 inches (centered in the middle). Cut it as high as you like, I just laid the fabric and me and marked where i wanted the bows to stop. Then take the scrap fabrics and make rectangles. Pin the rectangles to fill up the gap and sew them down. Then cinch the middle of each rectangle to make them into a bow. Let me know if that does not make sense.
