The early 1900’s has always been my favorite era in fashion. I found my inspiration from old advertisements, fashion magazines, art prints, and the marriage of the art deco and art nouveau periods. I LOVE this dress, although the pictures did not come out quite so well. I did not use a pattern but it fits perfectly and is the first dress that is anywhere near an evening gown that I have ever made…but now I will definitely be making more!
I used lace, created beaded strands for the neckline, and used a light chiffon along with a couple other fabrics for the body of the dress.

What DRAPING! I have never seen a twenty’s frock look so true to the time and yet so modern. The low back and ruffled sleeves are genius. You didn’t use a pattern? I am so amazed. What was the hardest part?

thank you so much! i didn’t use a pattern but oddly enough the hardest part was attaching the top to the bottom (especially in the back!!!). thanks again, your compliments were everything i was trying to achieve!

thank you so much! it did not end up taking me as much time as i thought, fortunately i didn’t seem to encounter any problems or mishaps along the way (love it when that happens!). i started with a completely different idea but while on the dress form it transformed into this along the way. probably took about 12 hours, i just plunged right into it!

Wow, beautiful. Another of the pieces that are clearly inspired by a decade but at the same time very modern, well done! I want one too… :-)! I’d love to see your inspiration-board, and I think you need to add one for it to be a valid entry (has it disappeared?)! I want to vote for you!
