Simplicity 4188 godet skirt with a touch of beninese embroidery.
A quick make with some leftover secondhand sheets, so I decided to add some detail with hand embroidery. Except I couldn’t find the correct color of thread for my design. What to do, what to do? I had the brilliant idea of going to a Beninese embroiderer and having him embroider it for me by machine…. except that once there, I was distracted by a book of designs and completely dropped my original idea for some full on beninese embroidery. So here is a skirt, along with a mini tour of a tailor’s shop in Benin. Followed by a photo shoot at recess, which actually isn’t a good idea since the kids kept blocking my skirt.
