Measure your waist to see how long you want your belt to be. Add about 20 cm. Cut the belt strap to this length and a piece of ribbon to this length plus 4cm.
match up the ends, stitch the ribbon to the strapping along each side, folding the extra ribbon length over neatly at one end.
attach the raw end to a belt buckle.
Admire the fact that your trousers now stay up.
