Burda Style For people who sew

I’ve been hankering for a pair of denim slacks that I could wear to work and this Bella pattern fit the bill. The style is so flirty and fun and I love the wide leg and button-up detail. I was hesitant, at first, about the high waisted look. Didn’t know if I could really pull it off. However, this ended up being one of the best features of the pants. I love the way my waist looks cinched in and thin giving me more of that hourglass shape that I normally don’t have.
These ended up running very large on me. I went down two sizes and still had to take in each side seam a 1/2 inch. I’m definitely glad I made a toile.
I added a few finishing touches just for my own enjoyment. I gave the pocket lining and the waistband facing a sprucing with some lovely printed cotton fabric. I think this makes a garment such a treat to wear! I also spiced things up with those bright red buttons, which seemed only fitting for denim. Overall, I love this pattern and will most likely sew it up again come Fall!
