Description

I needed a quick and easy project to try out my new serger, and I’m so Happy with my Brother! :-)
I have used jersey combined with Scuba which has a perfect finish at the edges, so it’s not necessary to hem it, and the bell sleeves have a nice drape. I added the same length as the bell sleeves of scuba at the hem, and also added scuba at the shoulders as well.

Hi! I really like the simple lines of this dress and yours looks fabulous. I plan to make this up in stretch jersey. The pattern calls for a zip, but often I find Burda knit patterns don’t really need a zip. Do you feel the zip is necessary for this pattern?

Hi, Thanks for your lovely compliment! I didn’t add a zipper, and normally you don’t need one when using jersey. Good luck to you! :)

What a great dress! I’m seriously thinking of getting a serger. Did you research which one to get? Or did you get it for free now that you’re a sewing star?!! :)

By the way, that dress you made for your niece is the same as New Look 6000. The first thing I posted on Burda was a dress made with that pattern!

love your version !! great fabric. I think this is a good pattern, with lots of possibilities, isn’t it? Have done one myself, but didn’t play too much with it, kept it simple. my daughter liked it so much, she wants one now, so looking for fabric for her, which isn’t easy, she fancies something bohemian, but nothing black :-))

anyway, have fun with your new serger. I am still experimenting with mine :-))

Thanks a lot for your kind words Chula! I also like it simple, but it’s nice to try out new versions.. Maybe your daughter will like some African prints.. Cheers and enjoy sewing! ;-)

Beautiful pattern, isn’t it…. The maxi version has darts at the back and I borrowed them to give more shape to the “roomy” pattern. I love the print too! And I hope some day I’ll buy a serger…Enjoy it!
