This dress is based VERY loosely on a McCalls dress pattern. The dress was not supposed to be fitted at all but I decided to add a number of darts to the skirt as well as about four pleats to the bodice (I used pleats on the top instead of darts so that they would compliment the drape of the cowl neck). I also decided to sew down the pockets not only to stabilize them but to make the dress just a little more interesting.
I used a cheap (about 3 dollars a yard) knit fabric for this dress.

Beautilful cowls! It’s funny, I was contemplating making myself a long sleeved, loose-fit top, tight fit bottom-cowl-dress just this week. It might be the next project on the list, thanks for the inspiration!
