this beautiful silk ring was used use as thimble in old school japan.
in west, i guess thimble shape like cup(?), YES,we use thimble in ring shape.
once silk thread was still expensive, house wives kept all kind of thread for making thimble.
today, not much people can really know how to make this anymore.
i think this is too beautiful to use as thimble.
this pattern called “SEIGAIHA” means WAVE…..
