You will need to cut out a circle for the top of your beret and also the 2 side bands, then you will need a strip of fabric cut on the bias of at least 70cm long (this size is based on someone with a standard head of 22.5 inch/57cm) so best in this instance to actually measure the petersham/grosgrain around your head with a 2cm seam allowance (1cm either side of the band). I am using a black velvet strip for the band whilst using black wool for the completed project. (I HAVE IN SOME PHOTOS USED A RED & BLACK EXAMPLAR OF THE SAME BERET TO DISPLAY FINISHES BETTER)
