Summer vacation sewing: Giant lightweight tropical print tote bag, made from a canvas remnant. The ends of the rope handles are wrapped and bound with heavy cotton thread to keep them from fraying excessively.
I used the last bits of fabric to make a matching detachable toiletry pouch. Everything got a generous coating of Scotchgard, because I anticipate this bag will go on many outdoor adventures.
This was my first time setting a magnetic snap – it was quite simple and straightforward.
Upholstery canvas, grommets, cotton rope, batiste lining, magnetic snap, heavy interfacing, D-ring, 8" zipper, swivel hook
