My coastal home town can get quite busy over summer seasons…and this goes for the shops (beach and swimwear shops!) too… all swimwear was sold out by early summer!! So I thought I’d give sewing swimwear a go. I do not prefer small bikini’s so went with my own ideas… its not quite perfect but it turned out ok…but it will probably be a wise idea to use a pattern next time rather than going with my own ideas :) for the top I’ve used some shirring to give it the necessary shape and it is also double layered for some body.

heheh!!! thank you :) I’ve never really gave much attention to vintage before, but I think I’m starting to appreciate it :) And this is what I LOVE about sewing: creating what you want…and not what is available in the shops! Happy sewing :)

aww thank you! I can definitely improve on this.. it was such a good learning curve… I really started at the deep end (again – I have this tendency!!!)… but it was fun and I’m already thinking about another one!

thanks so much :) do you note there are no other people on the beach? Well, i went to take the photos on a sunny day but it was so crowded! so I decided to go back for the photos on another day… and the only quiet time I could take the photos was early on a rainy morning :) hence the different colour scheme in the photos! It was not cold, but misty and rainy :) ooh I love the beach :) thanks again for your comments!

thanks so much! it is indeed comfy :) I’ve actually worn the top as a sort-of camisole underneath tank tops etc, it is so comfortable and actually want to make another :)
