This is my last project of 2011 – a skirt made at the very last minute prior to a Christmassy beach holiday (well, I’m in Australia – beach holidays at Christmas are the norm).
It seems crazy given that I’ve made loads of dresses and pants that fit, but I’ve always had trouble making skirts that fit. Usually I make them too big… but this time around I think I finally nailed the sizing woohoo!
Anyway, the pattern I used was Vogue 1174 in a size 14, evidently with the bodice left off (I seriously don’t think I could carry off this kind of bodice!). I think it works well – I just added a straight band for the waist band. I also sewed the pleats down a little but this was probably a mistake as it causes some pulling on the side pockets.
This skirt is also blogged here:http://upsewlate.blogspot.com/2012/01/last-project-for-2011.html
Aqua linen from The Fabric Shop, coordinating zipper and thread, 2 metal press studs
