This is a Built By Wendy pattern (No.3966). I bought the fabric last year but didn’t get round to making it up. Now I have and I am posting it unfinished (I haven’t hemmed the bottom or the sleeves and there are no buttonholes or buttons yet) since I am not sure whether I will ever finish it!! My boyfriend shakes his head when he sees it and says it looks like a bag of potatoes!! I kind of like it but I can see his point too. I haven’t bought buttons for it and don’t have any to recycle so I think this coat will remain in its present state unfortunately since buttons are too expensive for something that will never be worn. The problem, if there is one, is that I chose heavier material than is called for. The actual pattern seems fine and I loved doing the raglan sleeve – so easy. I chose satin for the lining which I love the texture of but which I found a pain to sew. Basically a good project sewing-wise (and I like the results technically) but maybe a bad choice of fabric for the pattern.
PS Sorry for the awful photos!

i like it! i think if you added some sort of cinch around the waist, it would definitely look less dumpy (or potentially dumpy— i actually don’t mind it like this anyway). also, i have bought wonderful buttons at secondhand / charity shops. you just gotta mouse around for them… i love your projects!

this looks super cozy and i really like the fabric. i assume it’s supposed to be cut roomy, no? it looks great for wearing over bulky sweaters for sledding and playing in the snow! if you don’t want to buy buttons, consider making a long sash out of the remnants and tying it up bathrobe-style. i think it would look chic like that.
