Inspired by the adorable Mociun dress. The fabric is cotton batik, it’s amazingly comfortable and it smells so good.
The shape of the dress is very simple, the idea with the tie-front is just brilliant. I’m sure that Caitlin Mociun is a genius. My version is looser than Mociun’s as I don’t like fitted dresses. The bodice has a couple of small darts on the side and the skirts are just big rectangles gathered on the top. Sounds like all of my dresses! I also made a couple of hidden pockets on the side seams.

Thank you! You can use any dress pattern with high waist as a start. Just change the neckline to deep V-neckline and add the tie :)

So pretty! I love the style and fabric.
How did you do the tie bit? Is it a big long rectangle that extends past the opening in the bodice?

Thank you! Yes, the tie is a big long rectangle, the width is about 24 cm and fold in half so the finished width is about 11 cm (1 cm seam allowance on each side). The length of the tie is the length of the neckline + 40 cm so I have 20 cm for each tie. The end of the ties are tapered a bit. :)

The front-tie is just so cute! And the fabric is so beautiful. Did you bring it with you from Indonesia?

Thanks! Yes, I brought the fabric from Indonesia last summer. It used to belong to my mother, she collected lots of fabrics when she was younger and then she gave (most of) them to me :)

Love your dress. And yes like all your dresses, “are just big rectangles gathered on the top,” ..but they are all so beautiful in itself.
