I had a lot of trouble with the handles because I was trying to make it reversible. I wasn’t using felt, so the original handle pattern wasn’t going to work. I ended up slip stitching the inside of the handles, and reinforcing them with a zig-zag stitch all the way around. I think next time I’ll use a bit of felt! Much easier and faster, I’m sure.
