I made this as a quick project for a BBQ. I started it the night before and finished it off the next morning.
I started off just wanting to make the pattern the way it was, to keep simple and quick, but after finishing the shape, I found that it didn’t suit me, so I added a waist band to give it a little more shape.
I found the shoulder straps ‘wrong’ for me and they wouldn’t ‘sit’ without some work so I just didn’t bother.
Next Time:
I would take some time to make the shoulder straps work, the skirt was also really full,so I’d take some out and probably bone the top.
I used a light cotton blend fabric (red/orange with gold threads)
It’s fully lined with medium weight cotton
The bodice and waist band are also re-enforced with iron on lining (for shape)

Thanks everyone! The fabric looks way more dramatic in the photo. In real life it looks more like a cotton blend and far less ‘shiny’ ;)
I hadn’t touched the machine in ages, but thanks to the nice comments I think I might drag out some more stuff and get back into it – thanks for the encouragement!
If anyone is interested, the waistband shape is copied right off the bust lining (when I had already sewed it together and made it fit), it is 4cm wide (without seam allowance) at the narrowest part and is measured straight across. I cut the underbust shape off the top off the skirt, gathered it and sewed it back on.
