I made Beignet by Colette Patterns and I’m completely smitten with the results.
This was a dream to sew. The directions are so clear and easy to follow. The booklet it comes in is adorable (I’m a sucker for nice packaging). The only thing I wasn’t sure of was where exactly to place the twill tape. I sewed it to the seam allowance on the shell side (as opposed to the facing side). Is that right?
I’m so proud of how neat and professional the inside looks. The way the lining attaches to the facing looks quite pretty in my opinion. I did have to rip it out twice though :-P. You have to sew a concave curve into a convex curve (or maybe the other way around). Thinking about it makes my brain explode.
This is very comfortable to wear and this skirt makes my booty look fab. Very flattering. I can even ride my bike in this if I undo the bottom three buttons.
Everyone should make this.
Vintage rayon for the shell, some adorable quilting cotton with “glamour girls” for the facings and pockets, and rayon bemberg lining. I also got some pretty glass buttons that sparkle in the sun.
Plan a weekend getaway in these sweater dresses and furry accessories.
