I finished this baptism gown this morning for my daughter’s baptism on Sunday! Definitely my most ambitious project to date – in pattern choice, fabric choice and time restraints (by the way, I don’t recommend giving yourself less than to weeks to complete a garment that needs pattern alterations and while nursing a newborn when there’s already a toddler running around the house!)
I used Simplicity pattern 2457 and altered it so that the buttons were at the front. All of the patterns I found had the fasteners at the back, which is just ridiculous considering it’s the chest that gets oiled, not the back!
I’m pretty happy with the final garment, If I did it again I definitely wouldn’t follow the instructions – since when do you form a sleeve and sew side seams BEFORE attaching the sleeve; especially when working with something so tiny?!?!
