I’m enchanted by the works of Cristobal Balenciaga in the late 40s, by the slim and elegant models posing for the shots in simple but beautifully tailored garments. My project is a far cry from that but was greatly inspired by the photos included in black and white.
For the high-waist pencil skirt I used the following pattern:

I just name it the “perfect pencil skirt ever” :)
It gives me the most amazing figure and sits on my body like it was my second skin. I can only recommend it for women who have pear shaped lower-body. I have a little tummy but a very round butt, this pattern suits me perfect. I used size 36 with 1.5cm seam-allowance.
The jacket is a mix-match of old patterns, but I drafted the flared lower part myself. I, unfortunately had only a limited amount of this gorgeous rich brocade left so I couldn’t quite get the pleats right but I does not bother me at all.
What bothers me is my pictures…I haven’t got the skills to take decent images, sorry about that :)
The jacket is fully lined.
Ps.: I have some fabric left but very little, I’m thinking of making a cropped bustier with the pencil skirt…should I?
