This is a Christening gown I made for one of my best friends who lives in Paris now. I used French lace and made an underskirt made of silk charmeuse underlined with pink flannel to give it a soft pinkish glow and to keep her baby warm in the cold winter there. I copied a drawing of a dress by Empress Josephine. I have a similar dress I am selling on Etsy
French Alencon lace, silk charmeuse, cotton flannel

Hi ruth I used Mccalls 6221 as a starting point but I modified it . I used a method for sewing lace taught by a bridal gown designer on patternreview. I have enough to make one more. It’s on sale on Etsy.
