Whilst everyone is making gorgeous floaty summer dresses… we’re still freezing out **** off in the bottom half of the southern hemisphere. So I made a coat!
The pattern is by Marfy (2570) from their 2011/2012 catalogue. The absolute most difficult thing about this was making the curved welt pockets!!
But it was well worth all the hair-pulling in the end – I’m pretty sure it’ll be getting a lot of wear!

Melanie, your coat is amazing and I want to congratulate you on your beautiful workmanship (workwomanship???). You have obviously been challenged by this Marfy pattern but your attention to perfection is so evident. I really admire your determination to finish this coat and then to be able to wear it with such pleasure. I know engineers have to get things right and have to understand how things go together and I think you are very fortunate to have that kind of mind to be able to make this stunning coat. I probably would have given up on a Marfy pattern without any instructions. Be very proud when you wear this coat and I hope Melbourne stays cold enough for you to really have fun wearing it.
