I made this little dress for a friends daughter. She just turned 1.
I didn’t use a pattern so I had to look up some info about children sizes on the internet. I think it turned out a bit too big, but I rather have it too big than too little.
My friend doesn’t like clothes that are too sweet, so I hope this is ok for her. I made some balloon-pockets to give it something extra.

Make sure you post it. Would the pocket technique work with corduroy?

I think so, this is a thicker type of jersey and the pockets are small because of the size of the dress, and it worked here. With my own cardigan, the pockets will be bigger and I’ll use longer pieces of elastic so it will ruffle a little less than here.

This is cute. I love the pockets. Did you have a hard time shaping them? Is it elastic or just a gather with thread?

The pockets weren’t hard to make. I stitched elastic to the facing and then stitched the facing to the pocket while stretching the elastic.
I’m also gonna use this technique for the pockets of the cardigan I’m making now for myself.
