Upstate, South C...
Well, I haven’t been on here in a while and I’ve realized how much I missed you, Burdastyle! I thought I’d add the costume I just made my baby since I entered it in the costume contest. I got the idea of making her a caterpillar from the silly looking sleep sacks she wears to bed. We joke that she looks like a glow worm. Then, I decided she needed to be a caterpillar that turns in to a butterfly. I made everything out of fleece and did a little engineering to make the costume transform. The butterfly wings fold up and tuck in to a zippered kangaroo pocket on the back of the sleep sack. I traced one of her sleep sacks for the pattern. The cap is a bonnet pattern from little betty with antennae stuck in the seams. The leaves were for fun but she sure does love to chomp on the them. From very hungry caterpillar to beautiful butterfly!
