This is a blanket for a baby boy. I am not a huge fan of blue, and I wanted to make a baby boy blanket that doesn’t feature this colour which seems to occupy all baby goods manufacturers to the point where all other beautiful colours get ignored. I love green, and so be it! ;-)
I didn’t have any proper wadding for filling, so I used a massive white terry 100% towel. It was huge, but it gave a nice weight and softness to the blanket. Also, it’s not synthetic, so more breathable.
I used brushed cotton for the backing/lining.

Love the blanket!!!! The fabric is perfect for the little guy. I agree with you about “blue” for boys, why do the predictable when there are such great fabrics to choose from. I might have to try the towel “batting”, I am sure it makes the blanket really soft. Happy Sewing!

I thought, why pay for synthetic, when I can have a natural filling for free? (I had that huge towel for ages, and never used it). Trying to be practical!

I love this and I totally agree about colours. Baby things only come in pink and blue these days – if you don’t know whether you’re having a boy or a girl, buying anything is a total nightmare. And anyway, as you say, there are so many other beautiful colours out there to use. Why shouldn’t bubs get to wear greens and browns and orange! :D It’s a very lucky little boy who’ll be getting this!
