Description

I made the Azalea #6004 with chiffon (or something like it). I thought it would look really flowy and summer like if I used the same type of material for the top and bottom dress parts. Bad idea. I guess I am not experienced enough because this dress took me forever and I had to do multiple alterations. I did not even need to put a zipper in, because the dress was huge on me. I have had problems with sizing with the patterns bought online here. They always end up way to big and I have to take it in without ruining the shape. I took the dress in mutliple times but unfortunately I could not fix the wide shoulders. I don’t know if I will ever wear it but I am glad it is done. A learning curve for sure.

I’m glad you noted the challenges you had with the sizing. Im working on this dress now and haven’t gone beyond the body piece because I was afraid it would be too big. Now I know I will need to adjust the sizing before I go on.

I will add though that I think the chiffon-like material was a wonderful choice. This dress looks beautiful and very comfortable!

I think your dress is very striking. Its so sad when you work so hard and it doesnt pay off. I have to tell u that I tried the Azalea pattern and its very pretty but its very baggy and doesnt hug the girlie curves. I made one for me and love it on the hanger but did not like how it looked on me. Its the only pattern I’ve downloaded that didnt work for me. Keep going.

Wear the dress! It looks so cute! We’ve had the same problems with sizing. I made my daughter a Marie skirt, and had to keep taking it in. I am making another one, but in a smaller size. Other than the sizing issue, the patterns are great.
