These are the fist two pieces I made from my dream list of fall sewing plans. I used Gertie’s new book (so good!!!) for both of these pieces. The skirt is a self-drafted full circle skirt (here chapter on pattern drafting is so clear and easy to follow) in a mini length. I inserted a hand-picked lapped zipper for the Burdastyle. first time. I hemmed this using the instructions posted for an easy-rolled hem found here on
The blouse is the Portrait Blouse pattern from her book. It’s a good basic blouse that layers well and is quick and easy to make. I had to lengthen the front tucks 1.5" to make this more flattering and the length of the blouse is a little short which is something to keep in mind if you plan on making this. I plan to add 3-5" to any future versions
