Made this dress for my daughter — she did the “paper” work and and I did the stitching. She preferred a sleeveless version and the facings were just right around the armhole. And, there’s enough fabric left for another Burda Style dress … in about a week.
the dress is 100% cotton & I used iron-on light weight fusible interfacing

Such a lovely dress, did you line it with the fabric (I’m trying to figure out where the interfacing was used, excuse my ignorance!!) Love the pattern and the fit is perfect!! I love!

Hi Squishedbugg – the facings around the armhole and neckline are made of the same fabric as the dress (I wasn’t as obsessive about matching the patterns since it would be on the inside) and I used light-weight iron-on non-woven interfacing to the wrong side of the facings. Then I sewed the front interfacing to the front of the dress at the neckline and the armhole (but NOT the shoulders) and sewed the back facing to the back of the dress at the neck edge and armholes (but NOT at the shoulders or along the zipper). Then you pull the shoulders to the wrong side, matching the seam edges. It’s a good idea to mark the stitching line of the shoulder seams — but I didn’t do that in advance. You sew the shoulder seams from the inside in a tiny tube. In the end, there are no visible raw edges on the inside of the dress. It’s nicely finished. Check YouTube for a great tutorial on doing neck facings.
