Sister wanted a tapered pencil skirt. . . A wardrobe staple that I didn’t have a pattern for! Or did I? After glancing at Vogue 9668, a dress pattern, I spotted a nicely tapered skirt. Perfect! So after much pattern alterations I managed to form the skirt I am calling the Audrey Hepburn Skirt. The story behind the name is a little longer than you would expect. Back in the spring of last year, my sister thought up five different skirt designs and sketched them out for me. To keep things both interesting and organized, I gave each a Hollywood actress name and the pencil skirt was deemed Audrey Hepburn. Namely because of the simplicity of the skirt; no “buttons and bows,” like the song. I am very happy with how it turned out!
I also sewed up the accompanying cropped jacket using McCall 5006. It is fully underlined which makes for easy-peasy finishing!
