Burda Style For people who sew

This year I said that I would not buy fabric and rather use what I have stashed away, and haven’t been much to the fabric stores, but on the weekend I happened to be in one and fell in love with this beautiful bright fabric, I just love the colours and design, and I wanted to wear a dress out of it right then and there! I decided a simple shift would look best because it’s such busy fabric. Because I have had problems before with the fit of Project Runway Simplicity 2725, I decided to make my first ever muslin (i’m always so lazy to sew 2 dresses!). I was happy I did though because there were lots of adjustments needed and the fabric was quite expensive. Today I sewed the actual dress and am very happy with the result. The fabric is a thick cotton stretch, I wish I could get more of it in different designs – I’ve never seen this fabric before! For the zip I used a red silver one, it’s a little bumpy but hopefully it will flatten with wear
