I found this beautiful bedsheet at the thrift store for $3, and I immediately knew that I wanted to make it into a dress to to wear to a friend’s wedding. I drew up a simple, form-fitting bodice and attached a circle skirt for the skirt portion. The bodice is lined, and I included a grosgrain waist stay and a hand-picked lapped zipper. I wanted the dress to be nice and full, so I used a refashioned thrifted white skirt for a petticoat for added fluff. The final touch was a cummerbund-esque belt that tied in a bow at the back, using material that I already had in my stash.
Unfortunately, the actual wedding day was gray and cloudy, but I still loved how beautiful and swishy my outfit was!

Thank you for all your kind comments, everyone! And yes, bedsheets do make great eco-friendly fabric sources. It does take some regular checking in on your local thrift stores to score a unique find, but you’ve be surprised how often it can happen!
