Aristocratic dress

Moscow, Russian ...

My good friend and customer asked to make a dress to go to a friend’s wedding. She loves russian history, so she said I want to have this aristocratic look, like in Tsar times. The wedding was held in autumn, so I suggested that we use warm jersey and flunnel. We used Burda 09/2011 Long sleeve maxi dress #109. In my opinion the look came out really nice especialy with a hairdo.

Fall, Winter
Garment Type
Flannel, Knits/Jersey

I love this dress and can’t stop looking at it. Thanks for sharing!

I have a question about the skirt. I’m assuming you changed the skirt shape from the pattern. Is that correct? It looks almost tulip-y, like it is slightly more narrow at the bottom than at the top. Or is it really the same shape as in the pattern? Maybe the flannel puffing out at the top of the skirt is just creating an illusion for me—I"m a beginner so I’m still figuring this kind of thing out.

Any tips you have on how you created the skirt portion would be very helpful!

Really beautiful dress, looks so so much better than the pattern! I love the fabric combination.
