Description

Lace applique for my wedding dress.

The idea was based on the Dior dress that Emily Blunt wore for Vanity Fair.

The image of the lace is the material I bought…so you can appreciate how much cutting was involved!

How the wedding has been and gone, I can finally put up images of my dress (didn’t want the groom to come across them online). I didn’t make the dress – my wonderful friend did http://felicitywestmacott.co.uk/

I just did the blue lace (and the little flowers at the top of the bodice)…although I say ‘just did’ – I worked out it easily took me 200 hours to sew all 22meters of the hem. yikes! Totally worth it though!

Ah thank you – I’m very pleased I’ve avoided it puckering as I’ve seen with some appliques

Oh wow, this dress is from one of the most beautiful collections of dresses I’d ever seen! I printed pictures of quite a few of them to keep in my “inspirations” folder and I bought some fabric with a blue/cream wedgewood style pattern to use as a border based on this dress but haven’t got around to deciding what to use it on yet. Yours is going to look stunning and patti-r’s suggestion should def work I think judging from your pictures.

Same! I heart this collection. There’s a pink dress (very high cut in the crotch), but stunning none-the-less.

Patience and persistance are always rewarded with pieces like this. Good luck ;)
