This is another way to use your stamps for sewing projects.

I choosed some butterfly stamps for this.

You have to color the stamps with fabric paint, I use Deka paint for all my projects. (As far as I know it is available in many countries)

After the image is dry and ironed, you may have to reinforce the fabric with some interlining, I used “Vliesofix”, which is a german brand and is used with an iron on the back of the fabric.
Then I put the fabric into my tambour frame (optional) and sew a very small zigzag stich around the image with the sewing machine (I use an old and antique Pfaff, no embroidery machine neccessary here)
After I made this “outline” to secure the thread, I cut the image close to the stitch with a nail scissor, that work well for me on curved edges.

Then you can use the appliqué like a bought one, and attach it to your project.

For me, it works better to make this appliqué instead of stamping directly on the fabric. First, I don´t have to fear a bad image and second, I have a more dimensional effect with this technique.

And you can put 2 or 3 appliqués in layering on your project. If you attach am image like the butterflies only on some points, it seems to “fly” ;-)
Have fun with this, Bärbel

PS: Sorry for my bumbling english
