This dress is made from a downloadable (Is that really a word?!) pattern from Sewmag’s website. It would have been easy and fun to do had I not been still poorly after having the flu and I cut one side skirt panel out upside down (hence the title!). I tweaked the back a bit and experimented with hook and eye tape….I must have been doing it very wrong as I broke three needles sewing it in!
Nice cheap cotton from Ikea

Hi there. I’m desperate to find this pattern. Is it part of the Bette Collection? You did such a good job of it that I really want to make this dress. Thanks for your help.

Hi, Yes, it is from sewmag.co.uk. The Bette dress. The instructions are a bit confusingly written but the pattern is simple enough. I really enjoyed wearing this dress last summer and it was fun to make…if you forget the whole upside down side panel thing!!!

Do you look at the website though, choose the one you love best and then suffer crushing disappointment when it is not available at your local store….I know that pain only too well!

I do look at the ikea website and most the time my local ikea has the fabric I’m hoping for :-). Oops meant to hit reply and hit the in Inappropriate button…sorry!

This is a very nice dress, and such a fun fabric. By the way, I didn’t see the upside-down panel.

I love Ikea fabrics Also but the shop in Nantes never seems to have much of a range. I am going to Moscow soon so it will be interesting to see what they have…That is a bit culturally poor of me, isn’t it…I am sure St Basil’s basilica will be lovely too!

Thank you….the hook and eye tape seemed like such a good idea but so many needles gave up their lives in the fitting of it!
