Description

Chanel style jacket in Linton Tweed in shades of brown, navy, purple and camel.

I wear navy such a lot to work but there are so many shades it’s impossible to get a match. This fabric works well as a contrast with most navies and browns and is so useful! I cropped the jacket to just below waist and the sleeves to 3/4 length. The lining is purple, lightweight and I added slim shoulder pads to add a little extra dimension. This is quite a busy tweed for me so to trim I used the selvedge around the neck, the front edges and the cuffs so there’s not too much going on.

I am lucky enough to have a box containing literally hundreds of little antique buttons which I fell heir to from my grandmother’s stash many years ago. They are incredibly beautiful and intricately made. I believe they were meant for boots or gloves in Victorian times. Anyway there are some sets, some pairs and just some odd ones but they are all lovely. I decided to just add two to each of the little pocket flaps as an extra touch.

Material Notes

Linton Tweed with acetate lining. Trim in tweed selvedge. Buttons from collection.

      Thank you very much. I am so fond of the buttons too and they remind me of visits to my grandmothers house. I loved rummaged through her sewing box.
