Description

This material used to be my great grandmother’s shirt-dress (she died two years before I was born). My grandmother kept it in her stash in the basement (a treasure-grove) for nearly 30 years before I found it, brought it home, and made new pieces of clothing from it. I love the material, you can’t seem to find material of that quality nowadays (well, you CAN, but you have to go to Japan first…). I’m glad I have a grandmother who knew better than to throw things with potential away! I made the pattern from my own basic pattern.

Hi! i’m having trouble downloading the file, maybe i’m doing it right but when the PDF file opens, the test squares never match. Is this because I have to print it first, or could i just be confused about the way the new site works. I really like this pattern, please help!!

Hm, I don’t really understand what could be wrong – if anything is wrong – but you should print it first. The original is in A4-size-pages, so if you print it on any other size paper make sure the setting is on “don’t scale” or somthing similar. That might be good even with A4-paper since some printers add a border and shrink the pages a bit by default. Print the page with the test-square first, measure it and if it’s right print the other pages with the same settings.
I hope this answer helps you!

I’m confused :( … on the “old” BurdaStyle website this Project (formerly known as ‘Creations’ on the old site) was accompanied by IchiGoGirl’s excellent pattern called Anna… but on the new site the pattern is incorrectly titled as “A rose is a rose” (found here: http://www.burdastyle.com/patterns/a-rose-is-a-rose) and is incorrectly attributed to memember PikkuPossu (but the text in the NOTES for it are correct).

These are the correct details from the old-site:-

    Pattern (from old-site): http://old.burdastyle.com/patterns/show/4009
    Creation (from old-site): http://old.burdastyle.com/creations/show/18058

Can BurdaStyle.com please fix the links in the new -site (i.e. this one) please?

Hi! Thank you Seemane for helping me out! I’ve posted about this in the discussion-section of Burdastyle several times, but nothing has happened. So, I got tired of waitning and reposted the pattern myself, which meant I had to change the name of the project. But at least now it’s connected to me and my creation again!

I agree with dressdummy, it looks great on you. I’d like to try that for my daughter, she’s small like you :)

That is a lovely story. I am sure this piece will have now have even more sentimental value. It is very pretty on you. Your great grandmother would be delighted.

The fabric from your great grandmother’s dress looks fresh and modern on you, and your shirt looks beautifully constructed. It fits you perfectly. I’m glad you have some close-up photos of the fabric so we can see the texture of it. Vintage fabrics are so interesting!

I have a quilt that looks to be made from a variety of dress and shirt fabrics from the 1920’s, 30’s and 40’s. It’s fascinating to inspect the weaves, textures, colors, and designs from those decades. Do you know when your great grandmother’s dress was made?
