Some members of the BurdaStyle team started their sewing career with scrunchies..some of them even started little businesses and sold their little creations to girlfriends. We wanted to share with you how to make those easy fun hairbands, that also make a great gift.
Elastic, 1/2" wide Fabric (we recommend printed cotton)

Although I would never wear a scrunchie out in public….I have to admit that I do wear them to bed as I have long hair and in the summer it gets too warm to sleep with it down…a scrunchie is soft and doesn’t dig into the back of my head like an elastic band does…..the narrow style and fabric definitely make it more modern!

It needs a remake, I’m confident it can become a trend nowadays too!:)

Scrunchies? Is it 1992? Sorry Burdastyle, but this is not something you would ever see me make / wear!

Memories! I think my first machine sewing project was a scrunchie. Making them thinner like this, with a modern fabric, is a great way to modernize them.
