I used Angela Kane’s shift dress pattern number 763. I haven’t made a dress for a while so I wanted to do an easy one, particularly as this was also my first proper attempt at a lined dress with a zipper. I used Angela Kane’s lining tutorial which is posted on Burdastyle here
For such an easy dress I ended up making a lot of muslins – 3 in total – trying to get the fit right! The back isn’t great but I’m really happy with the front. I was really pleased with the lining. I also under-stitched the lining to the dress seams at the armholes and neckline.
I have made this dress before – Dotty Betty dress posted here in December 2010.

Thank you for making up my dress again. I love the fabric.
I had forgotten that I added additional instructions for lining. You’ve made a great job of it. I hope to get around to a video tutorial on linings very soon. Lining makes a big difference to this simple dress.
