A surprise toile of the Andrew cardigan for the man in my life.
Now, he’s seen the toile he gets to choose the fabric for the proper version. The colour scheme has been a hit. The contrast front panel is a bit of fun and the sleeves and back are the reverse side of that check.
It is an easy pattern. And I am really happy with how the fit worked out after I guessed a size 50. A refinement to be made for the final is to widen the front facing – the buttonhole runs off the edge of the current facing width.
It is much harder to find a decent range of ribbing… if you are in Sydney, the best by far (that I have found) is The Fabric Store. And they are 30% off everything at the mo’!
This piece marks the debut of the mens label “Handsome” :P
Cotton blend knit; cotton ribbing; fusible interfacing; buttons; Coats & Clark Thread
Lincraft (because it’s only a toile)

For a toile – this is the ant’s pants! I love the contrast green and your Chap looks very “handsome” (well, at least what we can see of him!!!) Fits him really well. Gosh I wish I lived in Sydney – “Lincraft” and Spotlight are my only real fabric options .. in fact – I had a bit of a lash out myself at good o’ Spotlight today!! ($10 metre special!!)
Nice job – I wish my husband would wear cardigans. I love them on men – he is not so keen . . . can’t wait to see the final version!!

Wow! The fit is amazing for a surprise!!! And I really hope you told him that was the actual garment at first!!! Just to see his face! I know I would! ;-) But knowing it’s just toile, I really am looking forward to seeing the final version!
