My Biggest project so far … and probably for a long time!
So, last summer/fall I decide to take up sewing as I love crafting! And then when I got engaged, I decided that I want make my own wedding gown! I sewed ever stich in this dress … along with all the hours and miles of thread I went through :) The dress was originally based off of a pattern, but got altered so many ways until it was something I wanted and nothing that it was originally. It was such a nice learning experience and now I realize I have a true sewing addiction!
The bridesmaid dresses were also handmade… with the help of my sewing mentor! Thank goodness that she helped out! Time was short as the days passed … I worked to the morning of the wedding (well that was from a big dry cleaner failure … another day for that story).
I also made the bridesmaids a clutch (it’s somewhat visible in one of the photos) as part of their bridesmaid gift … there had to be something handmade in their goodie tote of goodies :D
… the wedding was a blast and so relaxing! I couldn’t have asked for anything more … perfect weather, great food, awesome band, and awesome guests! :)
wedding gown: outer shell-silk satin, underlining-muslin, lining-satin, lace-alencon lace (bodice and bottom edge), silk satin covered buttons and button loops bridesmaid dresses (5): silk shantung clutches (5): cotton, polyester lining

Congrats on your wedding. The dress is so beautiful!! I love it! Did you save a lot of money for the wedding dress…? :) I’m sure it is more meaningful making your own dress rather than buying one :)

Wow!!!!! First of all congratulations!!!! I hope your marriage will be as sunny as your weddingday!!! Second your big project…. I really admire your dare to start a project like this when you have so short experience on a sewing machine. I know about weddingdresses I made mine too (see my projects), but with lots of more years behind me. And it still was a hugh project that sometimes made the steam come out of my ears… ou did a great and marvelous job girl!!!! Can be really proud of yourself!

Thanks!
There wasn’t much to all the wedding planning. We booked pretty much the first vendor for each category (venue, photography, flowers, etc) … I wanted simple and garden style wedding with a very relaxed feel. It was a nice smooth easy going wedding :D
