Cocktail hat. I used the basic instructions from the Threads online article by John Koch, on making a hat base(free pattern at their site- http://www.threadsmagazine.com/item/17474/how-to-make-a-hat-base). I did an extra step-lining the buckram base with a wool felt, top and bottom, to make a smoother surface for the charmeuse to cover. I had difficulties with his method of making the darts in the buckram. After 5 failed attempts, I gave up, and reached for the craft glue! Worked beautifully. The rest was just basic sewing and glueing of embellishments.
