I had a really successful visit at the flea market a long time ago, when I bought this wool suit for an amazing 5 Euros. I just loved the fabric, a herringbone pattern in turquoise and purple! It was hand-sewn by someone unknown to me, but she or he really was a pro! So I was hesitant about cutting into it, but then again, I would have never worn it as a suit. And well, out came a coat that I have been wearing every day since finishing it. The style lines “happened” by the skirt not being quite wide enough to reach all the way to the front, and by the fact that I had no additional buttons to add (and I sure wouldn’t have succeeded in making such perfect bound button holes to match the existing ones…).

What a fab refashion! And what fun to have taken over where somebody else left off, as it were, what with it being hand sewn originally by the mystery person who chose that fabric!

Mind blown.
I’ve been wanting a morning jacket, and this is a GREAT way of sewing one without having to fit the shoulders etc…
I love the fake belt loops on the back to make the original skirt waistband into a design detail. That is so clever!
