Aloha Cape

Added Aug 31, 2013

by ndimi

Kerrville, Texas...

My first The Monthly Stitch project for the August Cape Challenge.

I can’t believe I actually got it done in time, so cool!

The pattern is self-drafted, and I decided I didn’t want a peter pan collar, so I made this ruffled-effect one by gathering a long strip of fabric into a circle. The collar is sewn so that the reverse print is on the outside, whichever way you choose to wear it.

Fully reversible and tied with a ribbon.

When I flounced out in my finished project to show Himself, he burst out laughing, so this will be donated to somebody who wants it. I’m not sorry – while it’s very cute it’s really not my style. I feel the cold, so I’d want a full length cape (aka cloak) and would look ridiculous wearing that in the tropics! LOL

Such fun, I’m glad I did this.

Material Notes

No burn test to check, but I think they’re both cotton. The green is a medium-heavyweight and the print is sateen-y

In a heartbeat! I’ve been wanting to visit Ireland for years, but my plans keep going pear-shaped.

However, I wouldn’t inflict this place on anyone, so if you wait a year, I’ll see if I have somewhere nicer to offer you. :)

Thanks. Yeah, winter is already over here, so I look uber silly, but I think one of the locals from inland or the highlands, where it does get cold, will enjoy it. Plus they will like the novelty of it. I might get orders! LOL
