Although there are a lot of bags out there it’s rare to find one that is actually right for what you want. This is a run through for a handy ‘Mummy’ bag so I can help a friend who is new to sewing. It’s a way for me to practice and test different techniques and also a chance for me to have a go at writing instructions- at least I remembered to take photos as I went along.
The plain bag should only take an hour but I wanted to add side and front pockets as well as the front pocket and also thought buttonholes would be a good idea, especially as I have new cute little star buttons!
Any will do, but as I was only doing this as a practice run I used an old curtain I’d been given. Polycotton will work as it is a lined bag but canvas reminds me of my Dad’s old bag, especially as I didn’t make the flap long enough.
