Burda Style For people who sew

In the past few years I have grown myself a little obsession tot the 20’s fashion. I admire the silhouettes, styles, materials and the feeling of the women in old photos wearing fantastic creations. I have wanted to make a 20’s style dress and this is my first attempt that I have started making about two years ago. It has laid aside for so long, because I started to to other projects as it felt that there was something wrong with my velvet dress and I couldn’t get it look like how I wanted. I had also a little crisis with the silhouette and my body (I’m not exactly the string bean type). Now I finished it and altered little the hem witch used to have gathering instead of pleats. It’s not a very authentic 20’s dress, but I think that it has little of that feeling because of the drop waist and that burnt orange velvet. Now I’m dreaming about making a real flapper dress!

Thank you! I wasn’t entirely convinced about the drop waist first, but I grew to like it.
