I made my prom dress this year for the Joann Fabrics contest. I finished it with 3 hours to spare! I was very inspired by 50s silhouettes and elegance, and I was very happy with the final product. I did the draping by hand (see my tutorial on draping here) Of course it still had to be tugged on every few minutes of dancing despite hours of tailoring the bodice. Ah well, it was still so much fun to make!
Please check my blog for all of the pictures!
I also made my belt from a vintage brooch, and my hair comb as well.
NOTE: Because I had so little time to finish the dress, I forgot to take pictures of sewing the draped bodice to the lining to conceal the raw edges. I’m really sorry, and please contact me if you still have questions!
