My first creation made from my own design, for my year 10 formal = )
I was pretty pleased with the Alice in Wonderland look about it, but that may have been my stockings and shoes too = )
It was a fairly simple princess seam that I developed from an old top that fit me well, with a gathered skirt and lace up back.
I am in year 12 now, so this photo is a tad old. I plan to try it on again and take more photos from better angles soon.
This dress came to me in a dream one night (yes, I often dream about sewing =P) and I woke up and had to scribble it down. I’m glad I did because it turned out that everyone loved it so much I was voted Prom Queen… O.O
Made from a soft but strong cotton, that I dyed blue. And a layer of blue/green chiffon over the top, and black lace over the side panels of the bodice. It laces up with eyelets and black ribbon at the back (with a modesty layer of black lace attached underneath at the last minute), and has a black satin sash around the hip and a black tulle underskirt.

I know it takes a bit of effort to dress up aye. That pink and grey dress I put up yesterday dosen’t fit me anymore so I couldn’t take a better photo haha. I kinda made it too small to begin with, silly me.

= ) Yes, I drafted the bodice from a top I had that fit me nicely and the rest I just made up as I went along.

I love that you decided to have fun with your prom dress like that! It’s so refreshing to see cute homemade dresses at prom instead of those awful polyester-and-rhinestone monstrosities they sell at the mall.
Beautiful dress! I would’ve voted for you too!
