Burda Style For people who sew
Description
This is a versatile skirt that I made primarily for wearing to the library. (I spend a lot of time doing research there). I think the pattern instructions describe this as a pencil skirt, but I don’t think that is quite accurate. With the pleats, it is almost a tulip shape in the front. Also, I made it a little shorter which may add to the slight tulip effect. It’s a fairly straight forward pattern, but I made a couple of changes: 1) invisible zipper, 2) eliminated the front pockets – didn’t want it to look “pouchy” in the front. The most difficult part was the top stitching on the front tab—making that tight turn was a little tricky. If I make this skirt again I will probably go for hand pick stitching instead of the regular top stitching.
Material Notes
Black cotton sateen, invisible zipper, old button from collection, purple stripe lining of an unknown synthetic fiber.
